The National Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Las Lajas, or simply Las Lajas Shrine, is a fairy tale-looking church in southern Colombia, near the border town of Ipiales.
Construction on the gothic styled building began in 1916 and took 33 years to complete. This magnificent building and surroundings have been a pilgrimage site for over a century following the purported sightings of Mary, mother of Jesus.
Regardless of your religious sentiment, this is a worthwhile visit to a setting that is one of the most underrated holy sites on earth.
