The Peruvian Inquisition lasted for a shocking 250 years. Non-Catholic blasphemers were the target of of the church and government.
Many people, particularly the indigenous, were unjustly tried, punished, tortured, and murdered for their beliefs or non-beliefs.
While there are grisly depictions of what happened, the Inquisition Museum sheds important light on forgotten atrocities.
While the museum is small – the history and messaging is deep and meaningful.
Given that the museum and Congress are in the same building (National Senate), this is low hanging fruit for travelers. Go get some history!
