Located on the southwestern side of San Cristobal Island is the Interpretation Center.
It’s a great place to learn about the Galápagos Islands in a variety of contexts:
- The unique climate
- Conservation issues
- Freshwater shortage
- Colonization of the islands
- History of Charles Darwin
- Geologic/volcanic formation
- Arrival and evolution of different species
- Marine currents & the effects on the remote archipelago
Just past the Interpretive Center are a series of trails that show off a number of the famous views of San Cristobal including WWII gun emplacements and a statue of Charles Darwin on top of the mesmerizing flora and fauna that you will undoubtedly encounter.
Absolutely worth a visit. If you’re up for a walk, you can stroll a few kilometers to get here. Otherwise take a taxi or a tour.
